There are two hot springs in the area. One on a nearby island makes a memorable safari – it is a two hour trip, leaving plenty of time to see the wildlife enroute.Day trips can also be organized to see the springs at Lake Bogoria.
Lake Baringo has its own special atmosphere of peace and calm where hippos graze at night on the lawns.
The first thing you find in your room is a newsletter with details of what’s nesting where in the hotel grounds. Over 460 species of birds have been recorded so it’s no surprise that Lake Baringo is a Mecca for bird watchers and a highlight of the Ornithology circuit of East Africa. A resident Ornithologist leads bird walks before breakfast and in the evening. You can buy a checklist of the Birds of Lake Baringo, identify the trees with a printed guide and read a daily log of species seen in the grounds.
 Boat rides at the Lake Baringo Club are rented for those who would be interested in the Hippos or Crocodiles basking on the shores of the lake. Or a bird watchers boat ride. From your motorized dugout, complete with sunshade, you have a marvelous view of the Laikipia Escarpment and the Tugen Hills.
