Lake Naivasha Country Club became famous in the 1930’s as a staging post for Imperial Airways’ flying boat service from Durban to London. The old Colonial architecture is solid and comfortable with accommodation in rooms and cottages set in 12 hectares of green lawns shaded by mature acacias. Lake Naivasha is a focus of activity. There’s good fishing for black bass and tilapia and a boat trip during the day is recommended for a close up of Naivasha’s remarkable variety of bird life and its hippo colonies. Lake Naivasha Country Club offers entertainment such as, traditional dances, live bands, indoor and outdoor games and water sports.
A visit to Crescent Island should not be missed. It is one of the few places in all Africa where you can wander on foot among herds of Zebra, Wildebeest, Gazelle and Giraffe. There are no fences and no predators. It is completely wild and undeveloped and preserved like a private game park. From here the views of the Mau Escarpment and Mount Longonot are never to be forgotten.
