Lamu House is comprised of two swahili houses and it is sea front. It is composed of 10 rooms. Each room is different and has its own character with a balcony or a terrace overlooking the sea and the old town, cradle of the Swahili culture.

Offering the best of both worlds you can rent either a complete house or individual rooms as in a hotel. Each house accommodates 10 to 12 persons in five separate bedrooms, and also has a living room opening to a courtyard and plunge pool, a top terrace overlooking the sea and the Old Stone Town, a kitchen and hi-fi system. As with all our Retreats there are sun decks and little nooks all over the house to nurture privacy.

The Lamu House experience is unique in offering clients access to two private dhows. These traditional lateen rigged boats have been restored with as much eye to detail, authenticity and your comfort as the houses themselves and provide a wonderful way to explore the archipelago in style and comfort.

Staff service is provided to make your stay comfortable ; the chefs will delight your senses with the wonders of the local gastronomy combined with international cuisine.

Alcoholic beverages are available at Lamu House with a selection of wines, spirits and beers on offer to both hotel and house guests.

 Dining at Lamu House is quite an experience: The Chef will delight your senses with an excellent local cuisine, which blends the best local ingredients. Abundant fresh seafood, coconut and tropical fruit are all combined with the exotic spices that have been traded along the East African coast for centuries.Lamu Moonrise Restaurant is open from 8 am to 10 pm, offers excellent a la carte menu together with a selection of wines and spirits.

Lamu House also has one Swimming pool and two plunge pools. there are numerous terraces are available where guests can enjoy life at the pace of Lamu: where time seems to have stopped a hundred years ago.

Lamu House also has two dhows - traditional Swahili sailing boat renovated by Lamu House available for day/night excursions to discover the superb beaches of the archipelago, during which the crew will prepare an excellent lunch with fresh-caught fish. Snorkeling equipment and fishing lines are at your disposal on board.
