Ngerende Island Lodge enjoys a simply beautiful setting. Located within an oxbow on the Mara River, the lodge is surrounded on all sides by water, but for a 100 yard wide section where the river has not quite joined up, to become a true island. The Ngerende Island Lodge shares its river-side plot with two large pods of hippos, at famous look-out points that have been popular with visitors for many years. These are now exclusive to Ngerende, as they are within the private area surrounding the lodge. The Ngerende Island Lodge is situated about 120kms from Narok town (a two hour drive or 4 hours from Nairobi) on the Olchoro – Oirogua Conservation Ranch which borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve Ngerende Island Lodge Accommodation To offer the ultimate in safari luxury, Ngerende Island Lodge has just seven sumptuous en-suite canvas-and-wood suites. All benefit from being built on raised platforms that provide delightful panoramic views down onto the Mara River and the woodland on the banks, opposite.
Each elegant tent has stylish polished mahogany flooring (including the terrace) and is extremely spacious. Each has an open plan sleeping and living area, complete with fireplace; bathroom providing both a massage shower, open air bath (if desired) twin hand wash basins and flushing toilet. Each individual suite benefits from having a Personal Butler, who will respond to the every need of his guests.
Comfortable seating is provided both in the living area and on the terrace so that the true tranquility of the lodge can be best appreciated.
The distance between each suite has been maximised to reduce any risk of disturbance that may be caused by other guests.
Activities Located in the Olchoro Conservancy's 17,400 acres, with its abundant wildlife, activities at Ngerende are focused around game-viewing.

Using our own, specially designed 4x4 vehicles, sit back and enjoy the show. Our expert guides and spotters are all seasoned-professionals and have an amazing eye for finding the animals, birds and reptiles for which the Masai Mara is so justifiably famous.
