Like the first time, everytime Treetops is located in the Aberdare National Park in Mweiga and is 17km from Outspan Nyeri. The lodge rises straight out of the ground on stilts and has four decks and a rooftop viewing platform. Being the original tree lodge, Treetops is legendary for its Royal connection and the animals it attracts i.e. Rhino, Elephant, Bufallo, Bushbuck, Waterbuck and many other species.
GAME DRIVES
Enjoy a 2 hour game drive in Aberdare National Park located 17km from Outspan.The Park is home to 2000 elephants that roam the clouded hills, and the remaining habitat of the elusive Bongo antelope and Giant Forest Hog. Black Rhinos also roam the wilds and herds of Buffaloes can be seen in most areas of the park. Carnivores in the park are Leopard, African Wild Cat, Spotted Hyena, African Civet and the rare Golden Serval Cat. Over 290 bird species have been recorded. Forests of Aberdare region are world renowned for their wealth in biodiversity compelling reason for a game drive.
TREETOPS LECTURE As you unwind in breathtaking view of the Aberdare Ranges and majestic Mt Kenya, our naturalist will take you through a journey of how Treetops started as a 2 roomed tree house in a fig tree in 1929.
Among others, the most famous visitors of all was a young English girl who arrived on an evening in February 1952 to spend the night with her husband. She climbed into the Tree one day a Princess, and climbed down the next morning Queen Elizabeth II –her father, King George IV had died during the night. The lecture also covers the animals found in the park and their behaviour. ABERDARE MOORLANDS
Aberdare ranges found in Aberdare National Park are the third highest mountain range in Kenya. Animals found include, Black Rhino, the Bongo, Giant Forest Hog, Colobus Monkey, birds and reptiles. Treetops are located around the salient an area with high concentration of wildlife in the Park. As you ascend you pass the bamboo forest before coming across breath taking spectacular falls starting with Chania falls, followed by Magura falls and finally Karuru which drops 300m.This is a full day tour and we recommend warm clothing as temperatures can drop to 6 degrees.
